There has never been a car like this: the first ever frame SUV Hongqi is presented
The premium brand Hongqi revealed the official name of the first ever frame SUV, presented at the last international auto show in Beijing. It will be called G919, which emphasizes its belonging to a new family and a “technological breakthrough,” the company’s press service reported.
The design of the new product in Hongqi is described as a monumental “cubic” silhouette with rectangular blocks of headlights, which refer to classical canons, but are solved using modern lighting technology.
The main innovation of the Hongqi G919 is hidden under the hood and in the electronics. We are talking about an intelligent hybrid powertrain based on a 2.0-liter turbocharged motor-generator and four individual electric motors, each of which is installed on its own wheel. This scheme provides a total power of 620 kW (843 hp) and a peak torque of 1320 Nm, as well as full traction vector control in real time, simulating differential locks without mechanical losses.
In addition, the new SUV will receive the Huawei Qiankun ADS digital platform (version 5), as evidenced by the characteristic lidar roof-mounted unit. The system is adapted for off-road conditions: it recognizes fords, stones, deep ruts and creates a detour route, notes Hongqi.
The new product is expected to generate high interest from both government agencies and security companies, as well as from private audiences who value an active lifestyle and technological independence.
The Hongqi H919 is not yet available on the Russian market. In its native China, it will go on sale before the end of 2026.
