AvtoVAZ: the Lada Azimut crossover will receive rich equipment already in the initial versions

The new LADA Azimut crossover has an original interior and will receive expanded equipment already in the initial configurations. Project manager Sergei Kutuzov told Avtonovosti Dnya about the interior details, trim levels and external features of the car.

According to The model, developed by AvtoVAZ, is based on a heavily modernized LADA Vesta platform. The Azimut also features its own body components, and the interior was developed specifically for this crossover.

As Kutuzov noted, even in the basic configuration, the model has a wide range of equipment. It includes a sunroof, a selector of driving modes, a multimedia system and a digital instrument panel.

According to Kutuzov, the multimedia screen and the electronic instrument panel are aligned in the same plane. This solution should be convenient for the driver, since he will not have to shift his gaze too much to the right.

“They are aligned in one plane to ensure the comfort of the consumer – not to be distracted by looking to the right, safety, and so on,” explained the project manager.

The top-end configuration of the LADA Azumit, as specified by Kutuzov, will include a system of all-round visibility 360-degree panoramic roof with sunroof (a separate robotic stand was installed at the Togliatti plant for its installation), dual-zone climate control, two-level wireless charging, rear air vents, and heated seats. An original multifunctional steering wheel with a two-tone finish was also developed for the Azimut.

“We have a multifunctional steering wheel specifically for this model made in two colors, and it will have a wide variety – three or four options for finishing the steering wheel,” said Sergey Kutuzov.

The overall length of the LADA Azimut is 4416 mm, the height is 1607 mm. The interior width of the new crossover, as noted by the project manager, is greater than that of the Vesta, and is 1838 mm.

The interior of the crossover was developed specifically for this model. The dashboard, seats and interior design details were created for Azimut.

The headroom for the driver is also greater than that of the Vesta – 937 mm. The shoulder width of the cabin is 1436 mm, while in Vesta this figure is 1391 mm.

“In essence, our engineers at AvtoVAZ have created a small miracle: it looks like a compact crossover, but inside it is very roomy,” noted Sergei Kutuzov.

According to him, the front seats in the Azimut are moved further apart from each other, so the fit should be comfortable. The project manager also noted that the interior turned out to be more spacious than that of the Vesta.

Kutuzov named the original lighting technology among the external features of the model. The front and rear lights should make the car recognizable in traffic both day and night.

  • Some technical solutions are also associated with the positioning of Azimut. According to Sergei Kutuzov, for some young and energetic buyers, the cost of ownership, high ground clearance, geometric and urban cross-country ability are important.

    The ground clearance of the LADA Azimut will be more than 200 mm. For the urban consumer, as the project manager noted, electronic assistants are also provided, including ABS, ESP and systems for assisting with ascent and descent.

    “Everything that the urban consumer, the buyer needs, is in it. The task was to make a crossover stylish, recognizable, affordable, beautiful. “I think that the AvtoVAZ team coped with it,” emphasized Sergei Kutuzov.

    As a reminder, serial production of the LADA Azimut is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, and it will appear at dealerships (initially in Moscow and Tolyatti) by the end of the year. A little later, the new model will reach other LADA dealerships across Russia.

    • The crossover will initially be sold with two engines. In the most affordable versions, the place under the hood will be occupied by a 1.6-liter 122-horsepower naturally aspirated engine, and in more expensive versions – a 135-horsepower 1.8-liter engine. They will be paired with a six-speed manual and a CVT. In the future, the model will receive a turbocharged engine with a capacity of 150 hp. and a classic automatic transmission, but the exact timing of the new powertrain’s release is still unknown.

    Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced the completion of a test cycle of new enamels and other paints and varnishes for the LADA Azimut crossover. The tests simulated real-life long-term vehicle operation conditions, including the impact of acid rain on the body.
