RCI: Lada Niva Travel will receive an extended rear overhang and a new interior in 2029

AvtoVAZ will launch production of the LADA Niva Travel with an extended rear overhang and a new interior in 2029. This was reported by the insider resource RCI News, citing sources at the plant. There is no official confirmation of such information at the moment.

The length of the LADA Niva Travel is now 4099 mm, and the wheelbase is 2450 mm. This means that the model’s rear overhang is relatively small by modern standards, and the ability to increase the usable volume in the rear is limited by the current body geometry.

Now LADA Niva Travel in top-end configurations is equipped with the LADA EnjoY Pro multimedia system with built-in Yandex.Auto services. It has a 7-inch touchscreen display, and features include noise cancellation, four audio speakers, voice control, FM radio, USB and Bluetooth.

As a reminder, production of the LADA Niva Travel began in December 2020, and in February 2021 it entered the market as a deeply modernized version of the former Chevrolet Niva, which, after changing the brand, was initially briefly sold under the name LADA Niva.

Since its launch under the name Niva Travel, the model has undergone mainly targeted changes. The basic architecture, body and layout remained the same, and the main updates concerned equipment, trim levels and individual technical improvements.

In particular, in 2025, AvtoVAZ began equipping the SUV with LED headlights and a new 8-valve 90-horsepower 1.8-liter engine, which replaced the outdated 80-horsepower 1.7-liter engine. Because of this, the prices for the model have increased and now range from 1,419,000 to 1,814,000 rubles.

Meanwhile, on August 31, AvtoVAZ announced the start of sales of the updated three-door LADA Niva Legend. The iconic SUV received a 1.8-liter engine, galvanized body parts, a driver’s airbag, more effective brakes and many other changes.
