The European organization EuroNCAP conducted tests of several Chinese cars at once, among which was the Geely E2 (in our country it is sold under the name EX2). According to the results, the electric car received a 5-star rating, and this is despite the fact that the latest version of the rules, valid since 2026, was used.
As we have already reported, the rules for conducting safety tests and the rating system have changed significantly, having become stricter in general. Despite this, Geely EX showed high scores. In the “safe driving” category, which evaluates the car’s system of preventative safety measures, it scored 79%.
“Collision prevention” was rated at 72%. “Geely E2 is equipped with all the latest collision avoidance systems. Its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed better in some scenarios than others, receiving almost maximum points in some and less than half in others. The lane departure prevention system performed well in track tests, but the driver assistance system was rated at a modest 40%, the organization said in its report. Crash protection scored 86% in the frontal offset crash test. In the frontal offset crash, protection was good or adequate for all occupants except the driver’s feet, which were rated poor based on dummy readings and pedal offset measurements. The car also lost some points because the seat belt partially slipped off the shoulder of the 10-year-old dummy. In the full-width test, chest protection for the front passenger was rated as poor, but otherwise protection was good or sufficient , — you can read in the report. —
The Post-Crash category evaluates the design and equipment of the car in terms of how quickly it notifies emergency services of an incident and how easily the car is accessed. Here, the EX2 scored 95%. “The advanced eCall system received maximum points for the information transmitted in the event of an accident, but the third-party support service (TPS) is not provided. Otherwise, the Geele E2 received the maximum number of points in all aspects of post-crash safety, including the rescue efforts of the victims” , — the report says.
Overall: The Geely E2 performs well in all four stages of safety testing and receives a five-star safety rating.
We previously reported that pre-orders for the Geely EX2 have started in Belgium, priced from 21,490 euros. However, it is worth clarifying that the equipment of the European version is slightly different from the trim levels of cars for the Chinese or Belarusian markets.
