The new Changan UNI-Z is heading to Russia: what a coupe-crossover with an engine from the Guinness Book of Records turned out to be
The Changan company is preparing to enter the Russian market a new urban crossover UNI-Z. The model with a coupe-like silhouette has a 147-horsepower gasoline turbo engine, front-wheel drive, a robotic gearbox and “winter” options already in the basic version, the brand’s press service reported to “Auto News of the Day.”
Under the false floor of the trunk there is an organizer with a lid and a compact spare tire. Depending on the version, an electric trunk lid with an opening height adjustment is provided.
The UNI-Z crossover is powered by a Guinness record holder – a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine NE1.5T from the Blue Core family, paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox. The 1.5-liter engine is designed for AI-92 gasoline and develops 147 hp and 280 Nm of torque, with maximum traction available in a wide range from 1,500 to 3,700 rpm. Fuel consumption according to the CLTC cycle is 7.4 liters per 100 km.
The interior of the new model is equipped with a digital instrument panel and a 14.6-inch multimedia system screen, located forward relative to the instrument panel. The soft-touch trim extends from the front console to the doors, and the multimedia system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, online services, and gesture control. A simple wave of the hand, for example, allows you to change the temperature and fan speed of the climate control system.
Photo ChanganAccording to Changan, more than half of the new crossover’s body structure is made of high-strength steel. The front and central pillars, sills and door power beams are made of hot-formed steel with a strength of 1500 MPa. The equipment includes up to six airbags and a built-in video recorder.
Changan reported that the complex of electronic assistants includes adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Blind spot monitoring and door opening warning are also provided.
In addition, the UNI-Z crossover is already adapted to the Russian climate from the factory. The basic equipment of the car includes a heated steering wheel, windshield, front seats and rear cushions, remote engine start with a key and a windshield washer reservoir increased to 5 liters. The hood, fenders, outer panels and door openings, as well as the trunk lid are galvanized, and the wheel arches are protected by plastic fender liners.
