Smart glasses are just starting to gain popularity, but authorities are already preparing the first serious restrictions for them.
In the American state of Illinois, a bill is being considered that would prohibit drivers from using such devices while driving. Moreover, the ban will apply not only to models with augmented reality that display information in front of the eyes, but also to glasses that work as a wireless headset.
The most interesting thing is that they are not going to make exceptions. Even if the driver simply talks through smart glasses or gives them voice commands, this will be considered a violation.
This decision seems unexpected, because one of the main ideas of such devices is the ability to use technology without taking your hands off the wheel.
The bill is currently awaiting the governor’s signature. If the document comes into force, Illinois could become the first region to set a new global trend.
It is possible that similar restrictions will begin to appear in other countries. A similar situation has previously occurred with bans on the use of social networks by children, when initiatives by individual states quickly began to spread around the world.
