A rare vehicle for our country, the seven-seat Toyota Rush crossover, has begun to arrive on the Russian market. The model stands out for its unusual combination of features: a frame structure, rear-wheel drive, and an affordable price starting at 1.79 million rubles.
The Toyota Rush occupies a special place in the Japanese brand’s lineup. It is not a classic urban crossover, but not a full-fledged SUV either. The car was developed in collaboration with Daihatsu and is aimed at the markets of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Cars are imported to Russia from the UAE.
The model’s main advantage is its cost. The Toyota Rush is significantly cheaper than most of its seven-seat competitors available in Russia. For comparison: the Kaluga-assembled Tenet T8 starts at 3.63 million rubles, the Geely Okavango starts at 3.9 million rubles, and the GAC GS8 will cost at least 4.8 million rubles.
The most affordable offers are currently available in Vladivostok. One supplier is ready to deliver a car to order for 1,792,000 rubles. The GX trim level includes a fabric interior, climate control, a multimedia system with a touchscreen, keyless entry, push-button engine start, ceiling air vents for second- and third-row passengers, and alloy wheels.
Other sellers have significantly higher prices: from 2.09 to 2.5 million rubles, and some offers reach 3.15 million rubles.
There are also cars in stock. In Magnitogorsk, the Toyota Rush is sold for 2.79 million rubles, and in Moscow, for 2.95 million rubles. The Moscow model is additionally equipped with two-level heated front seats.
Under the hood of all versions is the proven 1.5-liter naturally aspirated 2NR-VE engine producing 105 horsepower. This engine has already proven itself in other Toyota models, including the Veloz, Avanza, Vios, and Yaris for Asian markets. It is paired with a classic four-speed automatic.
At the same time, one of the most unusual features of the Toyota Rush for the modern crossover segment is its exclusive rear-wheel drive. The manufacturer does not offer other transmission options.
