The Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck has been in production since July 2023, although it was supposed to go on sale much earlier. This model has already been marked by various failures and malfunctions and has even participated in several recall campaigns, which, incidentally, is typical for many models, including Tesla. But here’s a new piece of news: the Cybertruck may soon be retired. Yes, that soon.
“Around the middle of next year, Tesla will begin scaling back Cybertruck production at its Texas Gigafactory to make room for increased Cybercab production,” Musk announced on the X network. Note that this post does not mention a complete cessation of production. Nevertheless, there is ample reason to believe that the Cybertruck’s short career is coming to an end. And first of all, the rather modest sales volumes speak in favor of this.

“The company once set a goal of producing 250,000 vehicles per year, but actual sales have fallen far short of that goal. Kelley Blue Book estimates that Tesla sold 11,586 Cybertrucks in the United States in the first nine months of 2026, a 28 percent decline from the same period last year. According to Car and Driver, cumulative sales are just under 71,000 units ”, notes Motor1.com, recalling that the actual price turned out to be significantly higher than the expected starting price of $ 39,900.
