The Lada Vesta received a new 1.8-liter engine with 132 hp: how much does the updated model cost?

AvtoVAZ has begun supplying official dealers with the updated Lada Vesta with a new generation 1.8-liter gasoline engine. The power unit has become more powerful, increased torque and improved the vehicle’s dynamic performance. The manufacturer also claims a decrease in average fuel consumption. The starting price of cars with the new engine is 1.885 million rubles.

The transition to the new engine affects all modifications of the Vesta family. This is an important change for the model, since the power plant remains one of the key criteria for choosing a car in the mass segment. Buyers are now offered a more powerful version without having to upgrade to another model or look for alternative equipment options.

New Lada Vesta engine: what has changed in the specifications

The main technical update is the new generation 1.8-liter gasoline engine. Its output is 132 hp and the maximum torque reaches 175 Nm.

For comparison: the increase in torque is especially important in everyday use. It is this characteristic that largely determines how confidently the car accelerates when overtaking, driving uphill and driving with a full load. Therefore, the increase in traction capabilities may be even more noticeable for owners than the increase in power in the passport characteristics.

The dynamics of the updated Lada Vesta have also improved. The maximum speed is declared at 192 km/h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 10 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is 7.4 liters per 100 km.

Specifications declared by the manufacturer. Actual consumption depends on operating conditions, load and driving style.

The combination of higher power and the declared reduction in consumption seems to be one of the main advantages of the modernization. However, a definitive assessment of fuel efficiency will be possible after independent measurements in real conditions appear.

How much does a Lada Vesta with a new engine cost?

The new generation 1.8 engine is available starting from the “Praktik” and “Drive” trim levels. The starting price of a car with a six-speed manual transmission is 1,885,000 rubles.

Buyers are also offered a version with a CVT. The surcharge for this transmission is only 5,000 rubles.

This difference in cost deserves special attention. A CVT may be an interesting solution for motorists who primarily drive around the city and want to be less tired from constantly changing gears in traffic jams. A manual transmission, in turn, remains a familiar option for those who prefer to control the transmission themselves.

Before purchasing, it is worth considering not only the price of the car, but also the warranty conditions, maintenance costs, and the operating characteristics of a specific gearbox. The surcharge alone does not indicate the long-term reliability or benefits of a transmission.

Lada Vesta Cross received additional driving modes

In addition to the new engine, AvtoVAZ expanded the equipment of certain trim levels. In particular, Cross versions now have a driving mode selection system.

Electronics allow you to change the engine and stabilization system settings depending on road conditions. The following modes are available: “Ground”, “Sand”, “Snow”, and “Sport”.

Such settings can be useful when driving on slippery or loose surfaces. For example, the “Snow” mode is focused on winter conditions, while the sand and soil settings help adapt the car’s response to challenging road sections.

It’s important to understand that the presence of such modes does not turn the Lada Vesta Cross into a full-fledged SUV. Electronic assistants can improve handling and traction in certain situations, but they do not replace all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, and a specialized off-road transmission.

What’s new in the “Techno” trim level

Changes have also affected the interior design. The “Techno” trim level now includes an electronic tire pressure monitoring system and ambient lighting for the instrument panel and door trim.

For the Russian market, monitoring tire pressure is quite practical. Insufficient pressure affects handling, increases rolling resistance, and can lead to increased tire wear. The electronic system helps the driver detect problems early.

Ambient lighting, executed in a soft moonlight shade, is already an element of visual comfort. It adds a more modern touch to the interior and helps bring the interior design closer to the expectations of buyers who pay attention to more than just technical specifications.

Will the new engine strengthen the position of the Lada Vesta?

Engine upgrades are an important step in maintaining the competitiveness of the Vesta. Buyers of cars priced around 2 million rubles are increasingly evaluating not only the price and origin of the car, but also the dynamics, equipment, ease of transmission, and the cost of subsequent ownership.

The new engine with a capacity of 132 hp makes the Vesta look more attractive compared to earlier versions. An additional selling point is the ability to choose between a manual transmission and a CVT with virtually no difference in starting price.

However, the update also raises some questions that remain open. In particular, buyers will have to evaluate actual fuel consumption, engine performance in different modes, and the powertrain’s longevity at high mileage.

The first cars are already being delivered to dealerships. Therefore, in the near future it will become clearer how popular the new version of Lada Vesta will be and how the price-equipment ratio in the model line will change.
