Foreigners who are temporarily staying or temporarily residing in Belarus have the right to use a foreign driver’s license. However, it must meet the requirements of the Convention on Road Traffic of November 8, 1968, or be drawn up in one of the official languages of our country or accompanied by an appropriate translation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
Foreigners who have received a permanent residence permit and a biometric residence permit must obtain a Belarusian driver’s license within 90 days. This requirement does not apply to Russian citizens.
Driving a car by a foreigner without a license is an administrative offense, and if such an offense is committed repeatedly within one year, it is a criminal offense.
Compliance with traffic rules is mandatory for all foreign citizens.
