The restyled UAZ Patriot will arrive at dealerships in October. However, buyers will have to wait until the version with an automatic transmission appears.
The head of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, Ilnur Sakhabiev, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that active work is currently underway to equip the SUV with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is already installed on UAZ pickup trucks.
Initially, the company considered the possibility of using its own 6-speed gearbox.
“We wasted a lot of time in 2022 searching for a transmission. And the question arose: should we develop a six-speed gearbox, or is it better to consider alternative options? Now we are focused on integrating the eight-speed automatic transmission into the Patriot,” explained Ilnur Sakhabiev.
