Two Belarusians attempted to import cargo minibuses into Belarus disguised as passenger cars in an attempt to save around 180,000 rubles on the recycling fee. It is known that they were not working alone, but in collusion with assistants.

The men exported four Mercedes trucks, valued at over 440,000 rubles, from Poland through the Brest, Kamenny Log, and Benyakoni checkpoints. Once in Belarus, the minibuses were converted into passenger vehicles, which are subject to a significantly lower recycling fee. In this condition, the vehicles were delivered to customs clearance points.

— The results of the examinations confirmed the presence of changes in the design of the vehicles envisaged by the manufacturer. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code. The penalty for this article provides for a fine, or restriction of liberty for up to 5 years, or imprisonment for up to 6 years, —report the customs authorities of Belarus.
