In October 2025, in the village of Raslo, Smorgon District, a drunk driver of an Audi lost control and crashed into a 19th-century chapel, which is a historical and cultural value. As a result of the accident, the architectural monument was severely damaged.
For violating traffic rules, the driver was held liable under Part 2 of Article 1 8.15, Part 5 of Article 1 8.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The man was fined 8,400 rubles and deprived of his driver’s license for 5 years.
— In addition, in connection with violations in the field of historical and cultural heritage, which resulted in damage to the chapel, the prosecutor of the Smorgon District sent an order to the Smorgon District Executive Committee to initiate administrative proceedings against the driver under Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, —reports the Grodno Region Prosecutor’s Office.
As a result, the man was fined 270 rubles. The chapel is currently being restored. After the work is completed, the culprit plans to recover all costs.
