Nissan is preparing the European debut of the popular crossover: it has become known what will surprise the hybrid Kicks
The Japanese company Nissan will bring the compact Kicks crossover to the European market and set up its production at a plant in the British Sunderland. The car will receive a third-generation e-POWER hybrid system.
Nissan classifies the Kicks as a compact B-segment crossover. The European version will be a hybrid and will feature the third-generation e-POWER powertrain, unveiled in 2025. In this design, the gasoline engine is not mechanically connected to the wheels and is used to generate electricity, while the wheels are driven solely by the electric motor.
The third generation e-POWER uses a 5-in-1 module that combines an electric motor, inverter, gearbox, generator, and step-up gearbox. According to Nissan, the new version of e-POWER differs from its predecessor in improved fuel economy, emissions and acoustic comfort.
The production site in Sunderland has been operating since 1986. Over 40 years, 12 million vehicles have rolled off the assembly line at the plant. Currently, about 6,000 people are directly employed at the plant, with another approximately 30,000 jobs related to its supply chain.
