Will diesel Havals return to Europe?

In August of this year, Russians’ interest in used diesel cars increased significantly: compared to June, demand has increased by a third, according to data from the Avto.ru service.

Autostat experts also recorded similar dynamics. Among new passenger cars, the share of diesel models in July and the first half of August reached 1.7%, while at the beginning of the year this figure was 1.4%. In the secondary market, the share of such cars also increased – from 5.9% to 6.3%, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Journalists asked Haval representatives if they plan to offer diesel SUVs in Russia again. Previously, until February, diesel Haval H5 and H9 were available for purchase from dealers. The brand’s press service responded that the company is closely monitoring market conditions and customer demand, but has no specific plans to expand the lineup with such versions at this time. They declined to comment further.

Haval previously noted that sales of the diesel version of the updated H9 had declined sharply due to an increase in the recycling fee. Under the current economic conditions, selling vehicles powered by heavy fuel has become unprofitable for the company. Over the past two years, this tax on the diesel H9 has grown by almost one and a half million rubles.
