Under the hood of the GAC S9 there is a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine, but it is used only as a generator and serves to maintain the battery charge. The combined fuel consumption with a discharged battery is only 7.4 liters per 100 km. The total range from a fully charged battery and a full gas tank is 1,019 km, and up to 208 km can be traveled on electric power alone (both figures are calculated according to the new European driving cycle NEDC), which makes the car equally convenient for both city and highway.
The GAC S9 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. The maximum power of its power plant is 340 hp. The transport tax for serial hybrids is calculated based on the maximum 30-minute power of the electric motors, which in the GAC S9 is only 147 hp.
The car uses a NMC (nickel-cobalt-manganese) traction battery manufactured by CATL with a capacity of 44.5 kilowatt-hours. Its fast charging time from 30% to 80% is only 15 minutes.
More detailed information about the trim levels, equipment and prices of the new GAC S9 will be announced closer to its official start of sales on the Russian market.
