In anticipation of the 2020 European Football Championship, the Russian representative office of the German brand Volkswagen has prepared a special edition Volkswagen Polo for fans of the popular sports game. The new model is already available at the official Volkswagen dealer, AAA Motors-Zapad.
For several years now, the Volkswagen Polo has been among the ten most popular sedans in our country. According to the analytical agency Avtostat, 59.5 thousand Volkswagen Polo sedans were sold in Russia last year, and the model itself took fourth place in the TOP-10 best-selling new sedans in Russia. Over the course of several years of sales, the model has gained many fans. Volkswagen Polo has proven itself as a modern, reliable and easy-to-maintain car. In anticipation of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, the Volkswagen Polo received a special Football Edition. It was developed in partnership with the Russian Football Union. The new model differs from the standard Polo with an extended range of options and accessories.
Visually, the exclusive Volkswagen Polo Football Edition differs from the base model with new exterior elements. In particular, the new model has mirror housings painted in Deep Black. The mirrors themselves are equipped with electric heating and electric drive. The 16-inch wheels of the new Portago design are also finished in black. A small spoiler appeared on the trunk lid, and a chrome trim is installed on the exhaust pipe. The front optics received dual diffusers and H7 lamps.
Starting with the basic configuration, the Volkswagen Polo in the Football Edition version received a leather multifunction steering wheel. The gearshift and parking brake lever handles are also trimmed with soft leather. Features include power windows for all doors with comfort opening and pinch protection, central locking with remote control, and two folding radio keys. The exclusive Football Edition also features Volkswagen Connect, which allows owners to monitor and control a range of vehicle functions via their mobile phone. The Volkswagen Connect mobile app helps you easily find your car in a parking lot, get fuel consumption statistics, find out the next service date, and access an analysis of your driving style. The Service Center feature lets you easily find the nearest authorized Volkswagen centers on the map and schedule a service appointment. If necessary, you can contact roadside assistance or the Volkswagen hotline with just one click.
The Comfort package is optionally available for this version, including front and rear parking sensors with visual and audible obstacle warning, as well as a heated windshield. The list of additional options also includes the “Safety” package, which includes: additional underbody engine protection, an anti-theft system with an electronic immobilizer, interior volume sensors and an autonomous alarm, as well as the ESP stabilization system. Climatronic automatic climate control with a recirculation mode is also available as an option.
As for engines, buyers of the “football” version of the Volkswagen Polo have a choice of several power units. These are two naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engines – with a capacity of 90 and 110 horsepower and a torque of 155 Nm. The third, most powerful option is the turbocharged 1.4 TSI engine, which produces 125 horsepower and 200 Newtons of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is offered for the 90-horsepower engine. The 110-horsepower engine is paired with an automatic transmission, while the most powerful turbocharged powertrain is paired with a seven-speed DSG.
As a pleasant bonus, all Volkswagen Polo Football Edition buyers will receive a soccer ball, combination floor mats, and a trunk tray.
Prices for the Volkswagen Polo Football Edition at AAA Motors-Zapad start at 849,900 rublesfor the version with a 1.6-liter, 90-horsepower engine and a manual transmission. A two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty is provided, with a third year extending until the vehicle reaches 100,000 km from the date of purchase, whichever comes first. Volkswagen vehicles come with a 12-year, unlimited-mileage warranty against corrosion.
