Основы предпродажной подготовки автомобиля

Selling a car is a natural moment, but its success directly depends on how the current owner approaches the issue. It cannot be said that selling a car is easy, if only because people instinctively doubt the quality of such a vehicle. For the sale to be truly successful, the car will need to be brought to its best form.

It is worth noting that there are no strict criteria in this matter, but it is possible to identify the main “stages” of preparation that a car must go through in order to be bought.

If a person is going to sell a car, the following is highly recommended:

  • It is necessary to thoroughly wash the entire car, since a potential buyer primarily evaluates the appearance of the car. It is not only the body that needs to be washed. You will definitely have to deal with the interior and even the engine, not to mention the trunk and other hard-to-reach places. This won’t be too expensive, but it will give the car a marketable appearance. If necessary, polishing can be done, but this will depend on the current owner’s wishes and the condition of the paintwork.
  • The next step is to remove most of the damage. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a serious dent or just a minor scratch. The more damage the car has, the more suspicious it will be, so any defects should be removed as soon as possible.
  • It wouldn’t hurt to clean the rims or replace them completely, as poor wheel condition can negatively affect the overall appearance of the car. As for the tires, everything depends on their condition. Replacement is not mandatory, but to make the car look good, the tires can be treated with a rubber blackener.

  • Particular attention should be paid to the glass, which can develop large and small cracks. The seller’s job is to get rid of them by any means necessary.

Repairing any breakdowns (especially chronic ones) deserves special mention. Their repair directly depends on how much the current owner wants to get for the car. If a high price is set, then repairs will definitely have to be done to bring the car up to par. On the other hand, the breakdowns can be left (if they are not critical), but then the price will have to be set accordingly, not to mention the need to explain the situation to the potential buyer. Some may try to cheat, but, as a rule, this approach does not end well and does not bring any benefits.

Replacing consumables is also a separate topic. On the one hand, their replacement can be part of preparing the car for sale, since then the price can be set higher; on the other hand, most people immediately replace some of the consumables with new ones after purchasing to be sure of their quality. Accordingly, there is no point in the previous owner spending extra money on this, but the price of the car will have to be reduced a little.

From all of the above, it is easy to guess that selling a car is a rather complex and serious process that cannot be approached irresponsibly, unless a person, of course, wants to make a deal.
