The Mogilev Region Prosecutor’s Office inspected driving schools that teach drivers and found numerous violations. The reason was the high accident rate among novice drivers with less than two years of experience.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the following violations were identified: curricula do not comply with the requirements of regulatory legal acts, classes are not held in full, the necessary equipment for theory is lacking, and the driving ranges and training vehicles are in poor condition.
— A number of driving schools were found to have circumstances that interfere with practical driving instruction: cluttered driving range areas and an insufficient number of vehicles for conducting classes, — the department reported. — For example, on the territory of the autodrome of one of the regions there were silage piles and straw stacks. In another district, there was only one training vehicle for 30 cadets.
During the inspection, it was also discovered that in some schools classes were taught by instructors who were not licensed to drive a car. One of such instructors in Mogilev was found unfit to drive for health reasons, but continued to work. After the intervention of the prosecutor’s office, he was suspended from work, held liable under Part 1 of Article 18.14 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and fined 5 basic units.
Following the results of the inspection, the prosecutor’s office of the Mogilev region issued 11 acts of prosecutorial supervision, and 9 officials were brought to disciplinary and administrative responsibility at the request of prosecutors. The regional prosecutor’s office submitted a submission to the driving school certification authorities, demanding that the identified violations be corrected, the information service of the Mogilev Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
