From January to November 2025, 28 fires caused by personal mobility vehicles were recorded in Belarus. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
The department explained that the main risk of fires is associated with lithium-ion batteries. Due to the properties of the electrolyte, such batteries can self-heat, which in some cases leads to fire.
Rescuers remind everyone to observe safety precautions when using personal mobility devices. In particular, it is not recommended to leave devices connected to a power source or charging unattended. Also, only original chargers that meet the battery’s technical specifications should be used.
Furthermore, it is prohibited to use devices with signs of battery swelling, overheating, or damage to the casing. If you notice a burning smell, smoke, or intense heat, experts advise immediately unplugging the device and discontinuing use.
