Experts from the Avito Auto service analyzed the costs of maintaining used Chinese cars listed on the platform from April to July 2025. The study showed that the most economical to maintain was the compact hatchback LIFAN Smily — its annual maintenance averages about 74 thousand rubles.
The list of the five most affordable models in terms of cost of ownership included:
- LIFAN Smily — 74 thousand rubles;
- LIFAN X50 — 75 thousand rubles;
- Geely MK Cross — 78 thousand rubles;
- Geely MK — 78 thousand rubles;
- Chery IndiS — 79 thousand rubles.
Popular crossovers are a little more expensive. Thus, the maintenance of Geely Coolray costs an average of 81 thousand rubles. per year, Changan CS35 — 83 thousand, OMODA C5 — 86 thousand, Chery Tiggo 4 — 87 thousand, and Geely Atlas Pro — 88 thousand rubles.
If we consider brands as a whole, the most affordable in terms of annual expenses were: FAW (74 thousand rubles), Haima (77 thousand), Brilliance (79 thousand), Changan (84 thousand) and Geely (85 thousand rubles).
On Avito Auto, the cost of ownership is calculated automatically and is indicated directly in the ad. In this case, the average annual mileage of 13.7 thousand km, Rosstat statistics on fuel prices, factory consumption figures, the average cost of compulsory motor third-party liability insurance for a 34-year-old driver with 11 years of experience, as well as Avtoteka data on maintenance costs are taken into account.
According to Andrey Kovalev, director of the Used Cars department at Avito, the widespread opinion about the high cost of maintaining Chinese cars is largely due to a lack of operating experience. In fact, the costs of fuel, insurance and maintenance are comparable to the costs of cars of other brands.
