For the 20th anniversary of the iPhone series, which Apple will celebrate in 2027, the company is preparing a radical design update – according to rumors, the smartphone body will be all-glass.
According to the latest application to the USPTO, the device will receive a hexagonal glass body, creating the effect of a single monolithic block without visible seams.
While the main goal is to achieve visual and tactile seamlessness, the patent describes a design of several glass elements to avoid fragility of the solid glass.
Zones of varying thickness are planned, including reinforced corners. All edges will be able to display information and respond to touch, and the glass will have neat holes for microphones and speakers.
The interface will be built into the side panels, which will open up new control possibilities. This design will allow Apple to create a virtually “perfect” frameless iPhone without cutouts on the front panel.
