AvtoVAZ will produce the new Lada Iskra model not only at the plant in Tolyatti, but also at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. In total, the Russian manufacturer plans to produce 20-30 thousand Lada Iskra cars by the end of the year.
According to the head of the AvtoVAZ press service, Sergei Ilyinsky, some of the cars will be produced at the plant in St. Petersburg. They plan to produce up to 4,000 cars there by the end of the year, thus the enterprise will produce less than 1,000 Lada Iskra per month.
Lada Iskra is created on the modernized CMF-B platform, inherited from Renault, but with deep localization. Externally, the car is distinguished by modern, “European” body lines, recognizable L-shaped headlights and signature X-graphics on the radiator grille. The car will be offered in sedan and station wagon bodies.
