Belarus has simplified the procedure for state registration and accounting of vehicles. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, the government press service reported.
The main change is that a vehicle inspection can now be carried out at any traffic police registration unit throughout the country, and not just where the registration will take place. The inspection remains valid for 30 days, allowing for convenient scheduling of visits and no need to be tied to a specific department.
Furthermore, legal entities are no longer required to visit military commissariats to register vehicles for mobilization purposes—this step has been eliminated from the procedure.
Registration of vehicles imported from countries of the Eurasian Economic Union has also been simplified. Previously, inspectors were required to submit requests to the issuing country and wait up to six months for a response. Now this need is eliminated – such cars are registered in the general manner, without additional requests.
The document also establishes the rules for registering homemade vehicles manufactured as a result of individual creativity.
Additionally, the standards have been brought into line with the Civil Code, which clarifies the procedure for registering vehicles if their owners are minors:
- children under 14 years of age,
- teenagers from 14 to 18 years of age.
Among the technical innovations is a clear consolidation of the concept of the identification number of the vehicle and a uniform procedure for photographing the vehicle during inspection, so that the procedure looks the same in all traffic police units.
It was also recalled that a vehicle can be deregistered at any traffic police registration unit, and registered — within the region (or Minsk) where the owner is registered.
