In August 2024, a passenger bus was involved in an accident in the Mogilev region. Six passengers and the driver were injured. Representatives of the prosecutor’s office looked into the case.
“The suspect knew that the bus’s chassis was faulty, but he continued the trip anyway, — the Prosecutor General’s Office reported. — As a result, the malfunction led to an emergency situation. The bus flew into a ditch and collided with a tree.”
“Two women of retirement age received less serious bodily injuries, — the prosecutors clarified. — A criminal case was initiated against the bus driver under Part 1 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“Violation of traffic rules, which through negligence resulted in causing less serious bodily harm”).

On July 18, 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Mogilev considered the criminal case against the bus driver. The man was found guilty of violating the rules for the operation of vehicles by a person driving a vehicle, which through negligence resulted in causing less serious bodily harm. Based on Part 1 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to correctional labor for a period of one year with a deduction of 15% from his earnings for the benefit of the state.
And from the transport company, which acted as a civil defendant, 2,000 rubles each will be collected in favor of the two victims as compensation for moral damage.
