1967 Ford GT40 Mk 1 – Rare Car at RM Sotheby’s Miami

A rare 1967 Ford GT40 Mk 1 is up for sale at RM Sotheby’s Miami auction. This car is one of only 31 examples of the version originally intended for road use, making it particularly valuable to collectors.

This particular car, chassis P/1058, was built as a Ford demonstrator and used for promotional purposes. It appears in a famous photograph of the Slough plant and in a photo of the Tasca Ford dealership next to the 429 Cobra Jet prototype. The car’s ownership history is fully documented.

The coupe is finished in Carmen Red with a black interior. Distinctive features of the road version include side mirrors on the wings, a rearview mirror on the windshield, reversing lights, heated glass, leather seats, carpeted interior, and wheels Borrani.

The car has never participated in racing. In 2021, it underwent a mechanical update, while retaining the original characteristics. According to the auction house, the price of the lot may be from 6.5 to 8.5 million dollars .
