As the manufacturer states, The “third” Mazda CX-5 is a completely new car, developed from scratch, which still retains the characteristic features of its predecessor. The length of the crossover body compared to the previous generation has grown by 114 mm – up to 4690 mm, and the wheelbase has increased by 76 mm, up to 2815 mm. Externally, it can be recognized by the original head optics, rear lights similar to the CX-70, the signature radiator grille and the new Mazda inscription on the trunk door.

The interior of the new Mazda CX-5 has a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen display, a multi-wheel and a digital instrument panel. But there was no room for traditional physical buttons – now various functions, such as volume, are controlled using the touchscreen and buttons on the steering wheel.

The crossover is driven by an uncontested 2.5-liter naturally aspirated “four”, working in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. And in 2027, the model will receive a hybrid version with a Skyactiv-Z power plant developed by Mazda.

Prices and exact dates for the start of sales of the Mazda CX-5 will be announced later.

Earlier, Mazda’s chief technical officer Ryuichi Umeshita spoke about the fate of the sensational rotary concept. In the foreseeable future it will become a serial model.
