Moskvich has resolved questions about the platform and galvanized bodies of the M70 and M90 crossovers

Last week, Moskvich announced the start of production of the M70 and M90 crossovers, which formed a new model line “M” and received their own original logo, reminiscent of the battlement of the Kremlin wall. Now the company has answered the most popular questions about them in its Telegram channel.

Thus, the manufacturer stated that the models of the “M” line are built on a fundamentally new platform, and these are not modifications of current cars, but “completely new crossovers.”

At the first stage, the “junior” M70 crossover will be offered only with front-wheel drive, but the appearance of its all-wheel drive version is also planned, only later. The flagship model M90 will receive all-wheel drive immediately at the start of sales.

Speaking about the body of the new Moskvich, representatives of the plant emphasized that all external body panels of the M line cars will be galvanized during production.

“We protect the metal from corrosion and extend the service life of the car,” they noted in the Moskvich Telegram channel.

From the post also It follows that the start of sales of the Moskvich M70 and M90 is scheduled for early spring 2026. At the moment, both models are undergoing tests that take into account the characteristics of Russian roads and climate.

The crossovers of the new line will be available for purchase from 60 dealers. An expansion of the distribution network is also expected over the next year.

It was previously reported that the new Moskvich M70 and M90 have already been certified. The mid-size M70 crossover has entered production in Moscow with two engines—1.5- and 2.0-liter (depending on trim level). The larger M90 crossover is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine without any alternative, and a nine-speed automatic transmission will be used as a transmission in both cases.
