Cars like these have never been seen before: AvtoVAZ is preparing a revolutionary new “Lada”
AvtoVAZ continues a series of tests of the new LADA Azimut crossover, for which about 100 cars were produced, assembled using both pre-production and “conveyor” technology. A camouflaged prototype of the new model was spotted again on the roads of Togliatti the day before.
According to local blogger KhaDm, this time the camera caught a car in a “good” configuration, with two-tone alloy wheels and a “senior” 132-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine.
Previously, in October, the Volga auto giant announced the beginning of preparations for the LADA Azimut for state certification testing, following which the model will receive “Vehicle Type Approval” and the right to be officially sold in Russia. According to the concern’s president, Maxim Sokolov, certification will be completed in 2026, before the model goes into production.
As a reminder, in terms of size, the first production crossover of AvtoVAZ can be called a “classmate” of the compact SUVs Haval Jolion, Chery Tiggo 4 and the “Belarusian” Belgee X50, which are popular among Russians. The overall length of the car is 4416 mm, the width is 1838 mm, and the height is 1607 mm. The clearance is declared at the level of 208 mm.
The engine range of the model will include two naturally aspirated engines of AvtoVAZ’s own design, which with a volume of 1.6 and 1.8 liters will produce 120 hp and 132 hp, respectively, and a pair of them will be a six-speed manual and a CVT. Over time, these engines will be joined by a new 150-horsepower turbocharged engine, mated to a classic automatic transmission.
