AvtoVAZ will radically update the “Niva” for the first time in 48 years. This has never happened before
In July, “AvtoVAZ” will assemble the first three “trial” LADA Niva Legends with a new 90-horsepower engine, an upgraded five-speed gearbox and an improved suspension using the “conveyor” method. The chassis production has already prepared three assembly kits for this purpose, the Avtograd public page in VK reports.
New differential half-shaft gears:
A more rigid front axle mount;
Exactly the same suspension with a gearbox will be installed on the LADA Niva Travel in 2025, and from February 2026, at AvtoVAZ, all these changes will be transferred to the serial three-door LADA Niva Legend. Thus, both SUVs will have the same powertrain and a unified front suspension.
Recall that the updated LADA Niva Travel SUV was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). It received a more modern design of the front part with LED headlights and a different engine, which is intended to replace the current 83-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.7-liter engine.
Earlier it became known that the restyled LADA Niva Travel with a new engine will cost approximately 1,400,000 rubles, and the version with new LED optics – from 1,450,000 rubles. A representative of AvtoVAZ spoke about this during a technical seminar of the company in Moscow, which was attended by a correspondent of Avtonovosti Dnya.
