The “all-terrain” LADA Iskra Cross station wagon will receive a unique option that has never been available on any other LADA. It will be the only model in the lineup equipped with an Active Rollover Protection (ARP) system, it was reported during the presentation of the new product at AvtoVAZ dealerships.

“The LADA Iskra Cross version, as a car with higher ground clearance, is equipped with a rollover protection function,” says one of the presentation slides.

It also specifies that this system automatically reacts when a potential hazard is detected. In this case, braking occurs on the corresponding wheels and engine torque is reduced, which prevents the car from rolling over before it starts.

The ARP function ensures driving safety in case of high-speed maneuvering and is most useful on roads with a low coefficient of adhesion and when driving on slopes.

Meanwhile, cars of the new LADA Iskra model family, the official start of sales of which will take place on AvtoVAZ’s Birthday, July 20, have already begun to arrive at dealers. In particular, the first “commercial” sedans and cross-station wagons have already appeared at LADA dealerships in St. Petersburg.

By Sunday, “commercial” LADA Iskra should appear at dealerships in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tolyatti, and in the following weeks the new model will reach other cities where the LADA dealer network is present. AvtoVAZ plans to announce the trim levels and prices for the new model tomorrow, July 18.

Recall that the model is built on the modern modular platform CMF-B-LS, which previously formed the basis of the third-generation Dacia Logan and Sandero, which are now produced in Romania and Morocco. At the same time, it was deeply modernized and became technologically independent: more than 1,000 new components and parts were introduced, 400 of which were reengineered.

LADA Iskra inherited its power units from Vesta. The sedan and station wagon are equipped with an eight-valve 90-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine, mated to a VAZ five-speed manual transmission.
