Commemorative Jaguar E-Type: Tribute to a British Icon
The Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1974, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and revolutionary sports cars in automotive history. Fifty years after production ended, Jaguar Classic has decided to pay tribute to this legend by creating two unique examples: E-Type Commemoratives.
Exclusive Tribute
The E-Type Commemoratives were created for a client in South East Asia, drawing inspiration from the original Commemorative Editions of 1974. Each car required over 2,000 hours of craftsmanship, combining modern technology with traditional craftsmanship to celebrate the style and sophistication of the original.
Technical Details and Design
Both cars are based on the Series I E-Type and feature unique finishes. One is finished in Signet Green and the other in Opal Black, which highlight the timeless lines of the original design. Under the bonnet, the classic 3.8-litre engine has been given an upgraded fuel injection system, mated to Jaguar Classic’s five-speed manual gearbox, providing the perfect balance between driving pleasure and everyday practicality.
Luxurious Interiors
The car’s interior is meticulously crafted, with seats upholstered in hand-stitched leather by Bridge of Weir, and a dashboard adorned with mother-of-pearl, silver and 18-karat gold, created in collaboration with luxury jewellers Deakin & Francis. These unique details combine decades of British design heritage into true automotive masterpieces.
Modern Features
While maintaining the authenticity of the classic design, E-Type Commemorative cars are equipped with modern amenities such as Bluetooth radio and a heated windscreen, offering a driving experience that combines the best of past and present.

A timeless icon
The Jaguar E-Type was such a revolutionary car in its design, performance and aesthetics that Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made.” With a top speed of 150 mph (240 km/h) and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 7.3 seconds, the E-Type positioned itself as a worthy competitor to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the time, but at a significantly lower price.
Curiosity
The E-Type was available in two flavors: a convertible called the OTS (Open Two Seater) and a coupe called the FHC (Fixed Head Coupé). It was one of the first cars to feature an innovative monocoque chassis, independent rear suspension, and four disc brakes, foreshadowing solutions that would later become the norm for sports cars.
Conclusion
The commemorative E-Type models represent a unique tribute to an automotive legend, combining the elegance and charm of the original design with modern amenities and technology. A true gem for collectors and classic car enthusiasts.
