Rarest Cizeta-Moroder V16T supercar to be auctioned at Sotheby’s

In January next year, RM Sotheby’s will hold an auction for the rare Italian supercar Cizeta-Moroder V16T, released in 1988. Only nine of these cars were built. The example put up for sale is also valuable because it is a pre-production model with chassis number 001.

In the late 80s, Italian musician Giorgio Moroder was inspired by the idea of creating his own supercar. To develop the car, he invited former Lamborghini engineer Claudio Zampolli and designer Marcello Gandini, who worked on the Lamborghini Diablo, Countach and Miura models.

The premiere of the Cizeta Moroder V16 supercar took place in 1988 in Los Angeles. This is the car that will be put up for auction. The supercar is equipped with a six-liter 16-cylinder engine. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The Cizeta Moroder accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4-4.5 seconds, and its maximum speed reaches 328 km/h. The first car underwent a complete restoration in 2018. The approximate cost of this example is unknown. The last production examples were sold for $650,000-750,000.

A supercar with the number 001 can cost significantly more. As Yuzhny Avtomobil previously wrote, a year ago a Cizeta V16 with a mileage of 981 kilometers, which belonged to the Sultan of Brunei, was put up for sale. Then the car was sold for $750,000.
