The age of a vehicle directly affects the costs associated with its maintenance and repair. According to statistics from an international network of service stations, the average bill for the first eight months of 2026 was 13,300 rubles, which is 14% higher than the previous year. This information was published by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The lowest expenses are recorded for cars under three years old. From January to August, the average bill here was 6,700 rubles, a decrease of 24%. For cars aged four to five years, the figure increased by 7% to 12,300 rubles.
After six years of ownership, maintenance becomes more expensive. For cars aged 6–9 years, the average amount reached 13,800 rubles, and for cars aged 10 to 19 years, it was 14,400 rubles. This exceeds last year’s figures by 11% and 16%, respectively.
The most significant increase in expenses was noted for cars older than twenty years. Here, the average bill rose to 14.1 thousand rubles, an increase of 21% compared to the previous period.
At the same time, the average age of vehicles utilizing the network increased from 12.1 years in 2025 to 12.8 years in 2026. Cars aged 10–19 years account for 53% of all visits, while another 14% are for cars older than twenty years.
Experts recommend that owners of cars older than six years more frequently conduct diagnostics of the suspension, brake system, steering mechanism, powertrain, technical fluids, and electrical components.
