AvtoVAZ announced the actual average price of a Lada in 2026: the difference with the market is about 2 million rubles.

The average cost of a new Lada in Russia in 2026 is about 1.5 million rubles. This is significantly less than the average market price of a new car, which, according to AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, has already reached 3.5 million rubles and higher.

The head of AvtoVAZ spoke about the current price ratio in an interview with the OTR TV channel. According to him, if the entire Lada model line is taken into account, the average price of the brand’s car is at the level of approximately 1.5 million rubles.

For comparison, the average cost of a new car on the Russian market is now about 3.5 million rubles. Thus, a Lada costs, on average, about 2 million rubles less than a typical new car presented on the Russian market.

Why is the average price of a Lada so much lower than the market?

The main reason for this difference is the structure of the model range. Granta, one of the most affordable new models on the Russian market, plays a significant role in determining the average price of a Lada.

According to Maxim Sokolov, Granta is purchased on average for significantly less than 1 million rubles. Due to this, the model significantly lowers the average price of all Lada products.

At the same time, the Russian manufacturer’s lineup also includes significantly more expensive cars. In particular, the Vesta and the flagship Aura are sold on average for slightly more than 2 million rubles.

This results in a fairly wide price range: from cars priced under a million rubles to models costing over 2 million. It is this combination of cars that allows the brand to maintain its average price at approximately 1.5 million rubles.

Lada remains one of the few ways to buy a new car relatively inexpensively

Against the backdrop of overall price increases, Lada’s advantage is particularly noticeable. Based on the figures cited by Maxim Sokolov, the average buyer of a new Lada spends approximately 43% of the price of the average new car on the Russian market.

With the market price around 3.5 million rubles, the difference is approximately 2 million rubles. For the buyer, this is more than just statistics: this amount is comparable to the cost of a single inexpensive car or a significant portion of the loan on a more expensive foreign car.

At the same time, comparing the average price of a Lada to the average price of the entire market does not mean that any domestic car is 2-3 times cheaper than any foreign car. The average market price includes cars of completely different classes – from budget sedans and compact crossovers to expensive SUVs, premium models and cars supplied to Russia via parallel imports.

Therefore, it is more correct to talk about the difference between the average price of the Lada brand and the average price of a new car in general .

What is happening with Lada prices

Another important point, which the head of AvtoVAZ drew attention to, is price dynamics. According to Sokolov, the price of Lada cars in recent years has been indexed significantly more slowly than inflation in the Russian economy.

However, this does not mean the absence of price increases. Lada cars have also risen in price following the growth of production costs, components, logistics and other expenses. In addition, the final price of the car is affected by the trim level, additional options, and terms of a specific dealer.

At the same time, the relatively low base price allows Lada to maintain its position in the most price-sensitive market segment.

Which Ladas are driving demand today

The Granta accounts for the bulk of the available supply. For buyers who primarily need a new car with minimal acquisition costs, this model remains the key option in the lineup.

The Vesta occupies a higher price niche and offers a different level of car in terms of size, equipment, and positioning. Even higher is the Aura, which is actually the most expensive and status model of the Lada family.

This division allows AvtoVAZ to simultaneously work with several categories of buyers: from those who need the most affordable new car, to customers willing to pay more than 2 million rubles for a car of the Russian brand.

Should you focus only on the average price?

The average price of 1.5 million rubles is useful primarily as an indicator of Lada’s position in the market, but when choosing a car, the buyer should consider the real cost of a specific configuration.

The final budget is affected by the type of engine and gearbox, equipment, additional packages, insurance, credit programs and dealer terms. Therefore, a car with an attractive advertising price may cost significantly more after adding the necessary equipment and associated costs.

Nevertheless, the gap between 1.5 million and approximately 3.5 million rubles shows the main thing: Lada remains one of the key brands on the Russian market for buyers for whom the relatively low cost of a new car is fundamentally important .

At the same time, the further availability of cars will depend on the cost of production, the ruble exchange rate, prices for components, production volumes and the general situation on the Russian car market.

Thus, Maxim Sokolov’s statement does not really mean that all Ladas cost 1.5 million rubles, but that thanks to the availability of the Granta and the relatively affordable Vesta, the average price of the brand’s products remains significantly lower than the overall cost of a new car in Russia.
