At one time, the reputation of the 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5) diesel engine was significantly tarnished due to premature wear of the chain connecting the two camshafts in the timing drive – this is fraught with jumping or breaking, which leads to serious damage to the engine. But the latest recall is caused by an entirely different problem.
So, this time, the Stellantis concern is going to call more than 50,000 cars across Europe for service due to a problem with the fuel injection system, which was discovered on the 1.5 BlueHDi engine. The campaign affects cars manufactured between July and October 2025. These include the following models:
- Peugeot: 308, Rifter, Partner, Expert;
- Citroën: Berlingo, Jumpy, C5 Aircross;
- DS: DS 7;
- Opel: Astra, Combo, Vivaro;
- FIAT: Doblo, Scudo.
According to L’argus, there is a possibility of incorrect assembly of the Common Rail fuel rail, which can lead to loosening of the fasteners, as a consequence, to a fuel leak, and potentially — and the risk of fire. However, it is noted that no such cases have been reported to date. Possible symptoms of the problem include unstable idling, difficult starting, reduced engine power, or increased fuel consumption. The check engine light may also come on.
The recall includes an inspection of the fuel injection system and, if necessary, its replacement along with the high-pressure hoses. Naturally, repairs in this case are fully covered by the manufacturer.
