China’s newest ZTZ 100 tank was photographed without its modular protection.

The modern Chinese tank ZTZ 100 (Type-100) continues to attract considerable attention. Judging by the frequent photos of new vehicles appearing on social networks on the streets near Tank Factory No. 617 in Baotou (Inner Mongolia Province), these combat vehicles are already in serial production and are supplied to units of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

Recently, a photo of an unusual-looking version of the “hundred” was published, which does not have modular protection of the frontal part of the hull and sides. Perhaps this was done to simplify transportation.

According to experts, modular protection has a number of obvious advantages: in addition to the ability to reduce dimensions during transportation, it is easier to replace in case of damage compared to conventional multi-layer armor. In addition, as the design improves, such modules can be regularly updated and replaced with new ones.
