This has never happened before in the Russian auto industry: AvtoVAZ is testing a new Lada with unique equipment
AvtoVAZ continues road tests of its main new product of the year – the LADA Azimut crossover. And if previously only expensive versions of the model were seen on tests, this time on the roads of Togliatti they noticed a car in the basic configuration with stamped 17-inch steel wheels.
As can be seen from the photographs that appeared in the Telegram channel “Autoflow” and the channel of the Togliatti blogger KhaDm, the basic configuration is also indicated by the absence of a sunroof, a standard white body color (not two-tone) and a black painted rear pillar trim. Also, judging by the pictures, there are no keyless entry system sensors on the outer door handles.
Based on this, we can safely assume that under the hood of the test car there is a “junior” 120-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine, which is a modernized version of the 106-horsepower engine and will appear in the LADA Iskra in 2026. In the basic configuration, this unit is paired with a Chinese six-speed WLY “mechanics”.
According to AvtoVAZ, the serial LADA Azimut will receive wireless charging for a smartphone, electric steering wheel and seats, dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument panel with built-in navigation, as well as a multimedia system with a 10-inch touchscreen, pre-installed offline and online Sber services and six audio speakers.

In addition, the crossover will be able to boast a panoramic roof with a sunroof, an electric trunk lid, a 360-degree camera, an electric parking brake and a driving mode selection system. Moreover, a rear-view camera, fully LED optics, a tire pressure monitoring system, keyless entry and many other options will already be present in the basic configuration of the car.
It is assumed that the LADA Azimut already in the basic configuration will have a full set of safety systems, including ABS, EBD, BAS, ESC, TCS and HSA systems, headrests, seat belts, an ERA-GLONASS emergency response unit, ISOFIX mounts and two airbags.

Under the hood of the LADA Azimut in the basic configuration will be a new “VAZ” engine with a volume of 1.6 liters, which will develop 120 hp and be combined with a six-speed “mechanics”. More expensive versions will receive a 132-horsepower 1.8-liter engine and a CVT, and later the engine range will include the first in the history of LADA turbocharged engine with a capacity of 150 hp. s., working in tandem with a classic “automatic”.
Earlier, “Auto News of the Day” learned that AvtoVAZ has not yet decided on prices for the LADA Azimut crossover, but will do everything to ensure that its purchase is more profitable than the acquisition of a competing model. The head of product marketing of the company, Sergei Kornienko, informed our correspondent about this.
