Vedomosti: Yandex is developing its own taxi vehicle.

Yandex has begun working on its own electric vehicle, the UMO 5, designed for use in taxis. The model is based on technologies from the GAC automaker and is expected to cost around 2.4 million rubles, Vedomosti reports, citing a project presentation and sources.

According to one of the publication’s sources, representatives of the company and the automaker are already negotiating with several factories regarding assembly locations. A second source noted that production of the UMO 5 could begin as early as 2026.

According to the presentation, the new electric vehicle will be classified as a “comfort+” vehicle by Yandex Taxi and will be used in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The vehicle will feature front-wheel drive and a 204-horsepower electric motor. The range will be between 300 and 430 km, depending on the season. The 63 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery can charge from 20% to 80% in about half an hour. Standard equipment will include LED optics, a multimedia system with a 14.6-inch screen, six airbags, a 360-degree view system, and heated interior elements.

UMO 5 will essentially be a copy of the GAC Aion Y Plus model. The price of 2.4 million rubles already includes a subsidy for electric vehicles in the amount of 925 thousand rubles. Leasing will cost at least 69 thousand rubles per month with a four-year term and zero down payment.

According to Yandex calculations, the annual cost of operating the car will be about 405 thousand rubles. The service interval is 15 thousand km, the car warranty is four years or 150 thousand km.
