Daimler AG officially unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The German concern Daimler AG officially presented the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which received the factory designation W206. So far, the sedan and station wagon versions are presented. A little later, the coupe and convertible versions will appear.

The car was created from scratch, but the new C-Class W206 became a further evolution of the W205 model. The new model is built on a modernized modular platform MRA. Engineers redesigned the front four-link and rear multi-link suspension. The manufacturer claims that the car has improved handling and ride comfort. The new generation of the C-Class has become longer and wider than the previous one.

Analog instruments are not available in any trim level of the car. The diagonal of the digital instrument panel is 10.25 inches in the basic version and 12.3 inches in the top trim levels. The multimedia system received a vertical screen with a diagonal of 9.5 inches in the base and an 11.9-inch display in the expensive versions. In all trim levels, the car will receive a hybrid system. Gasoline and diesel engines received a built-in 48-volt starter-generator. During acceleration, it adds 20 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. Energy is recuperated during braking.

Petrol versions are represented by modifications C180, C200 and C300. The first two are equipped with 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engines with a capacity of 170 and 204 horsepower. The “three hundredth” C-Class received a two-liter gasoline engine producing 258 horsepower. Diesel versions are equipped with a two-liter engine in various power outputs. In the C200d version, the engine produces 163 horsepower, the C220d – 200 horsepower, and the C300d – 265 horsepower.

4MATIC all-wheel drive is available for the C200, C300, and C220d versions. A sporty version of the C63 AMG will be presented a little later. Sales in Europe are scheduled to start on March 30, prices have not yet been announced. In Russia, pre-orders for the new C-Class can be placed in the second quarter of 2021, and sales will begin no earlier than summer. The car will be delivered to our country from Germany; there are no plans yet to produce it at the Russian Mercedes-Benz plant.
