In March, a traffic accident occurred near Orsha, as a result of which one person died and another was seriously injured. The court issued a verdict in this case.
A collision involving two Volkswagen Polos occurred on the M8 highway “Vitebsk – Gomel – Ukrainian border”. According to preliminary data, the driver of one of the cars drove into the oncoming lane while overtaking and collided with a car there (there was a female passenger in it, she died).
“The accused was driving along a section of the road with a curve behind a truck, limiting visibility of the oncoming lane,” — the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus stated. — He was not sure of the safety of the maneuver and drove into the oncoming lane to overtake. That is where the collision occurred. As a result of the accident, a pregnant passenger in an oncoming car sustained injuries from which she died at the scene of the accident. Another passenger sustained serious bodily injuries.”
At the trial, the accused partially pleaded guilty. He denied the fact of overtaking, sincerely repented of his actions, and voluntarily paid the victim 20,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages.
