Haval F7X. New style icon!

Two years have passed since the mass exodus of Western brands. During this time, Chinese car brands have already firmly entered our lives. Among the variety of Chinese brands and models, the Haval brand has already won its place under the sun. The editors of “Yuzhny Avtomobil” tried out one of the most popular Chinese crossovers on the Russian market – Haval F7x.

Appearance
Over the past decade, Chinese brands have lured away the world’s best car designers. The Haval F7x crossover coupe looks impressive, self-sufficient and attracts the attention of others. Of course, the crossover’s appearance was designed by Pierre Leclercq. The same one who worked at BMW in the 2000s and was responsible for the creation of the first BMW X6. The appearance of the Haval F7x turned out to be refined – it is impossible to confuse it with another model.

Before us is already a restyled version of the crossover, which was updated in 2022. Today, the Haval F7x is one of the most beautiful not only Chinese, but also European crossovers. A massive radiator grille and a sly squint of LED headlights, a swift silhouette, and giant 19-inch alloy wheels – all this instantly attracts attention. By the way, LED optics are available for the Haval F7x already in the basic configuration, which cannot be said about its competitors. The car is simply created for true connoisseurs of drive and style.

Interior
We got the top-end Tech Plus trim level with all-wheel drive for testing. Everything inside looks like a premium brand. The stylish and incredible comfort of the updated HAVAL F7X will not leave you indifferent.
The landing is comfortable, and the seats have lateral support rollers. The driver’s seat can be optimally adjusted for yourself using electric drives in eight directions.

The upholstery of the seats has perforation, a new stylish black color with gray and red inserts and execution from high-quality materials. In the center of the dashboard there is a 12-inch touchscreen display of the multimedia system. The graphics are noticeably pleasant, the icons are large, the colors and fonts are restrained. A clear image from the all-round cameras is also displayed on the screen. And a nice bonus is support for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces.

In the maximum version, which we got, the cabin has 8 high-quality speakers that produce excellent sound with rich bass. The cabin of the F7x crossover looks presentable. The multifunctional plump steering wheel with a truncated lower part lies comfortably in the hands. The diagonal of the digital instrument panel is similar to the multimedia and is 12.3 inches. Such a large virtual instrument panel is only available in the top version. In simpler trim levels, the instrument panel is also digital, but with a diagonal of 7 inches. In the base, you will get analog instruments with a 3.5-inch trip computer screen.

The driver can choose from three design options for the virtual instrument panel, but the dynamic mode is the most convenient. Also on board is a full set of driver assistance systems, including lane control, blind spot monitoring and active cruise control. In terms of the quality of the interior materials, the Haval F7x is not inferior to Korean and European brands. Other pleasant features that will bring additional comfort to the driver and passengers include heating of not only the front, but also the rear seats, steering wheel and heated windshield. Of course, a panoramic roof is not provided, but light can be added to the cabin through an electric sunroof. Dual-zone climate control allows you to set a comfortable temperature for the driver and passenger. I would especially like to note the all-round cameras. The image from them is of high quality and everything is really clearly visible.

How it drives

We press the engine start button and turn the gear selector to position D. But the car does not want to go. It turns out that this is the electronic driver safety system at work. The car will not move until the seat belt is fastened. We fasten the belt and we are ready to go, the car releases the handbrake itself.

While driving, one can note good visibility through the mirrors and fairly narrow front roof pillars. As befits a coupe body, practically nothing is visible through the rear window. But this does not create any particular inconveniences, thanks to the cameras and sensitive parking sensors.

Under the hood is a two-liter turbo engine, which develops 193 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. We had the top version for testing. You can also order a car with a smaller turbo engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 150 horsepower. The base car will be front-wheel drive, and the maximum version has all-wheel drive. Of course, no one is going to drive such a dandy into the mud up to his ears, but you can playfully drive the Haval F7x on light off-road.


The engine runs very quietly throughout the entire rev range, and the generally good soundproofing of the cabin enhances this pleasant effect. There is only one gearbox offered – a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two “wet” clutch discs. In urban conditions, the Haval F7x holds up comfortably. The robot does not jerk in traffic jams, and does not annoy with random gear changes. You can also drive in manual mode, flipping through the gears with the steering wheel paddles. Overtaking is given to the F7x playfully from any speed, and the gears click almost imperceptibly. Acceleration from zero to a hundred is less than 10 seconds, but the car is quite large and heavy, and the lack of traction is not felt at all.

Haval offers buyers versions with both front and all-wheel drive. The crossover has independent suspension – MacPherson type in the front, and a multi-link in the back. This allows you to drive over asphalt waves and other uneven road surfaces without much shaking. The suspension, steering and brake settings will certainly appeal to most potential buyers who are not spoiled by a thoroughbred premium. The car turned out to be strong, balanced, stylish and eye-catching.

Briefly about prices
Prices for new cars are now quite high, but in the situation with the Haval F7x, the situation is somewhat different. For your money, you can get a fully equipped car. At the same time, classmates from Europe, Korea and Japan in the basic equipment will not get anything at all that the Haval F7x has. The basic version of the Haval F7x is well equipped and is now offered at a price of 2,449,000 rubles.

The maximum version will cost 3,339,000 rubles. The prices for new cars of European or Japanese brands have now soared so high that they have become inaccessible, and some automakers have completely left our market, freeing it up for new players. At the same time, Haval has already won a place for itself under the Russian sun and entered the TOP-10 best-selling cars in our country. In addition, I would like to separately note that the Haval F7x is manufactured at a Russian plant near Tula, which means that you will not have any special problems with servicing the car.
