Russia to Start Producing New Domestic Car

Russia will begin producing a new domestic car

Preparations for production are underway: Avtotor will produce its own car

The Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has begun preparing for the conveyor production of a compact electric delivery car, which will be the first car of its own design. Denis Pak, president of the eponymous holding company Avtotor, spoke about this in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.

“At the moment, we “We are completing the key stages of developing our own compact electric vehicle and are moving on to preparing for production. Our initial goal was to create an affordable electric vehicle with a high level of localization, focused primarily on delivery services, car sharing, as well as on the mass consumer with an average income level,” said Denis Pak.

The head of Avtotor added that the plant has already approved the main version of the power plant of this electric car, which has proven its reliability and fully complies with the localization requirements.

In addition, as part of the work on the car, electric motors of our own production, as well as a gearbox and inverter created jointly with FSUE NAMI, were tested. In the near future, it will be equipped with Russian battery modules from the RENERA company. The equipment for this project has already been manufactured and is undergoing the acceptance stage, the source noted.

Earlier, Denis Pak said that the dimensions of the first car of Avtotor’s own design will be close to the A-class, which includes the Daewoo Matiz, Kia Picanto and other similar models that have long been familiar to Russians, and it is planned to sell it not only to individuals, but also to corporate clients, as well as social services.

Meanwhile, the AmberAuto brand created by Kaliningrad's Avtotor has begun selling its electric sedan AmberAuto A5 at a special price of 1,499,999 rubles. This price tag is valid for a limited batch of cars from July 1, 2025.
